At the waterfront in Sønderborg, the first turf has been cut today for Kongebrohuset, which will contain 28 exclusive appartments next door to Steigenberger Alsik Hotel & Spa and Videnshuset.

Naming

The name Kongebrohuset is due to the fact that the house is located right next to the old Kongebro (King’s Bridge), which after the reunification in 1920 was used as a jetty for the Royal Ship.

The apartments are being built by Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation, working with A. Enggaard A/S. They will be high-quality homes in a unique location in Sønderborg. The apartments will be virtually "at the water's edge", and will benefit from an uninterrupted, beautiful view of Alssund. All apartments will have spacious balconies facing Alssund. The apartments on the upper floors will also have private roof terraces with glass screening, an outdoor kitchen and a hot tub.

Per Have, CEO of Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation, is pleased that the building work can start:

“This project has been underway for a while. Even before Alsik opened in May 2019, we completed the noisy process of pile driving for the foundations to avoid disturbing hotel and spa guests. In the past year, we have spent time deciding on the specification and interior design, which in this building must be of an extraordinary quality. The advance interest in the apartments has been unbelievably good and, with 28 apartments of varying sizes, they will appeal to a wide target group”.

Kongebrohuset is being built by a company founded jointly between Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation and A. Enggaard A/S. This company is called BMCAE A/S. A. Enggaard A/S has been the turnkey contractor at Alsik and is also handling the expansion of the Videnshuset.

Asger Enggaard himself is proud of the projects which he has helped to realise in Sønderborg over the last few years:

“It is incredibly exciting to be part of the development in Sønderborg. As a developer, I am proud to have erected buildings as different as Borgen, Alsik, Videnshuset and soon also Kongebrohuset. They are all unique, and examples of the breadth of ability in the construction industry that our company possesses”.

The construction is scheduled to take a year and a half, and if all goes well, the first people will move in at the start of 2022. Even before building has started, there is great interest in the beautiful apartments.
