Plans for two additional building plots in Frank Gehry's master plan for the Town’s Harbour are now being realised.

PFA has invited Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation to collaborate in an exciting project for a community for senior citizens to be located on one of the three north harbour plots in the Town’s Harbour. The community will contain about 40 rental apartments for people aged 50+. In order to foster a close and friendly sense of community, these residents will have their own private apartment but also access to communal facilities such as shared kitchens, workshops and gyms on their doorstep.

Michael Bruhn, Property Director at PFA, says:

At PFA, we want to play an active role in solving the need for more senior-friendly housing and housing associations. This investment is another excellent example of this. It also fits in well with our Danish property strategy. In recent years, we have increasingly focused on desirable locations away from Copenhagen and Aarhus. We therefore consider this investment in Sønderborg to be attractive; both for our customers and their savings.

"Danfoss-hus"
In addition to accepting PFA's offer of collaboration, Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation has agreed to a request from Danfoss to build an apartment complex for the company. The building will be smaller with 14 - 15 apartments of varying sizes. Danfoss will use it to accommodate foreign employees who stay in Sønderborg for a short or long period. By having employees living in a communal building, they will tap into a ready-made social network between colleagues. The building will also be used to test and demonstrate various innovative Danfoss products.

We are delighted that BMC has decided to build the new apartment complex. It means a lot to us that our foreign employees receive the best support and accommodation for a happy stay in Denmark. The quality is high, the location beautiful, and you will be part of a social community with your colleagues.

Architects
The same architect has been chosen for both of the new buildings. Reiulf Ramstad Architects are designing both the community for senior citizens and Danfoss-hus. Reiulf Ramstad Architects is a renowned Norwegian design studio which has branched out into Denmark with the architects Per Fischer and Thomas Carstens at the helm. These two architects have worked successfully with Bitten & Mads Clausen's Foundation and Danfoss.

Per Have, Director of Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation, is pleased that it is now possible to realise another part of Frank Gehry's Master Plan for the northern part of The Towns Harbour.

Sønderborg and The Towns Harbour are extremely lucky that PFA have chosen to build a community for senior citizens here. PFA and Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation have already collaborated in the construction of Alsik. In the community for senior citizens, the collaboration is in the reverse direction, with PFA accounting for the majority of the investment. Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation is pleased to satisfy a need for Danfoss for an apartment building for their employees. Realising these building plans makes good sense in that they complement existing facilities in Sønderborg.

Construction is expected to start at the turn of the year 2020-2021.
