On Thursday, February 27th, 2020, Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, visited SDU at Alsion and heard about the new Centers for Industrial Electronics and Industrial Mechanics.

Both educational programmes have been developed as a result of close dialogue between SDU, Danfoss and Linak, and with support from the Municipality and the Region. At the University, the Prime Minister met several students, who spoke positively about moving to Sønderborg to attend one of these unique programmes. In Sønderborg they have found an attractive study environment and a town with great opportunity.

Henrik Bindslev, Dean of the Technical University, said that talented young people from abroad study engineering in Sønderborg, and that three out of four subsequently get work and stay in the area. In Sønderborg, there is a job guarantee for engineering students at CIE and CIM, as SDU works closely with local companies.
